Adult Workshops
One day workshops....arrive in the studio ready to learn and create.... leave in the afternoon with a new piece of ART to decorate your home!
when: Sundays from 12 to 5pm.
Fee: $90. - 5 hour workshop includes all materials plus one glass of Chilean wine
What to bring: art friendly clothes, your favorite bottle of wine/drink, lunch and your creativity.
Class size: minimum of 4 and maximum of 9 people per class.
If your class is cancelled due to not meeting the requirement of people attending, you will be issued a credit towards your next class.
All classes and workshops are for all skill levels: from complete beginners to experienced painters.

Encaustic workshop
$ 25.- additional materials fee includes pigment, beeswax, four (5" x 7") supports, and use of equipment..)....we encourage you to bring found objects.
Explore this exciting medium. The four main components of encaustic are wax, heat, resin and pigment. This workshop offers a unique opportunity to reacquaint with or discover the encaustic medium. Gain deeper technical knowledge of the essential aspects of encaustic in this full-day comprehensive session. The day starts with a discussion about the history of the medium, safety, materials, tools and types of grounds and is followed by a demonstration session of color mixing, fusing, application, collage and more!
Mixed Media Painting on wood
Using various mixed media items students will create a painting on wood; exploration, composition, value, color, materials, and techniques are covered. Beginners gain skill, understanding & confidence quickly as we explain both what and why. Experienced artists gain new ideas & techniques for their art. This class is not project based. Workshop fee includes most materials, one 12” X 12” panel, three 4” X 6” panels, and use of equipment.
Using acrylic paint students will create a painting on miniature canvases; exploration, composition, value, color, materials, and techniques are covered.
Collage workshop: Hopes and Dreams
Create a piece of art which will remind you all year long of your goals, hopes and dreams for 2012-using multi-layered work that incorporates printing techniques, text, stamping, photo transfer images made possible with acrylics and gel mediums.
Abstract art.
Students find the abstract in the world around them and interpret what they see and feel intuitively rather than planning and designing each step. Critiques and demonstrations are included. All levels are welcome.
Color Theory. What is the color wheel? How do you mix colors? An understanding of color theory is essential for students making the transition from drawing to painting. This workshop helps those who are unsure of the role color relationships play in art and design, you will make several pieces of art as they relate to whaty ou learn in this workshop.
Painting: acrylic on wood and canvas. Using acrylic paint students will create a painting on wood or canvas; exploration, composition, value, color, materials, and techniques are covered. Students paint from still life.
Life Drawing-introduction. Participants create drawings based on in-class observation of a model using gesture, line, and tone with simple materials such as charcoal pencils and black pastel. Model fees are extra.
You must be accompanied by an adult if you are under the age of 21.
Private pARTies!
Three hours for you and your friends to make ART, laugh... and walk away with a finished piece of ART!
The fee for our 3 hour pARTy is $60.- per person - and includes all materials.
You bring: art friendly clothes, your favorite bottle of wine, beer or non-alcoholic drink of choice,snacks and your creativity.
pARTy size at our studio: minimum of 6 and maximum of 9 people per pARTy.
We can come to your home/workplace/rec center if you want to include more people.

Can you come to my location?
At your home/work place will incur a $20.- mileage charge if we travel outside 15 mile radius-max 30 mile radius travel from Arlington, VA.
There is 50% non-refundable deposit required at time of booking.
Cancellation policy:
Please notify us within 24 hours of the workshop if you will be unable to make it. If you do not give us a 24 hour cancellation notice you will loose your payment or gift certificate. If we have a no show / no cancellation, then the credit card that made the reservation remains charged. However, if you give us the 24 hour cancellation notice we can credit your reservation for another night.
